CINEMA DSP transforms the dynamics of the listening environment with the acoustics of famous venues from all around the world.Virtual CINEMA FRONTVirtual surround sound.

With Virtual CINEMA FRONT, you will enjoy virtual 5-channel surround sound with higher quality and resolution by installing surround speakers at the front. You get more flexibility to arrange your speakers inside the room, along with easy enjoyment of high quality surround sound.Rich Bass ReproductionFeel your lows. The Yamaha exclusive low-range enhancement technology delivers richer bass than you expect from the speaker size while maintaining good localization and sound balance even with compact front speakers. When a subwoofer is used, it improves the volume of the entire low range of the speaker system, not only the front speakers, but also enhancing the bass from the subwoofer.
You'll enjoy video and music with sound that has exceptional power and presence.Better Sound ImagingCrisp and focused. The Subwoofer Trim Control enhances the low frequencies by avoiding overlap with the front speaker output.
This will result in a cleaner, more focused sound stage while providing a seamless frequency response. When subwoofer frequency overlap occurs in conventional systems, the overall sound is “pushed” toward the subwoofer. Subwoofer Trim takes care of this by separating the low subwoofer frequencies cleanly, thus stabilizing the front stage while providing a well-balanced enhanced bass sound.ECO ModeGo green.
The new ECO mode by Yamaha reduces power consumption by about 20%. It can be set from the top of the OSD menu.Compared to power consumption when ECO mode is off (Yamaha measurement).

OK I was after a bit of advice if possible.
I have a new RX-V683 that's replacing my RX-V1067 as the 1067 was not UHD compatible. I have a setup that includes 2 X front, 1 X Centre, 2 X Subs, 2 X rear Surround (mounted high on the rear wall) and Zone 2 connected to two outside speakers. So I would guess this is a 5.2.1 setup. I have some ceiling speakers on the way to setup a 5.2.2 Atmos system. I'm not sure of how they should be connected to the amp.
At the moment I have (see photo) Rear surround connected to (first surround input), Centre to centre, Front to Front, and Zone 2 to Extra SP1. Should I connect the 2 in ceiling speakers to Extra SP2 or swap the Zone 2 to Extra SP2 and put the ceiling speakers on SP1? Or should my rear mounted speakers be connected to the SP2 (surround back input).its a bit confusing.I have the option to locate the ceiling speakers in front or behind the seated position. Any comments would be appreciated. Welcome to the dedicated owners' and future owners' thread for the 2017 Yamaha RX-V line of AVRs.AVSforum discussions.

Keep in mind when using the 2nd zone the atmos speakers are not useable. The amp takes the amplifier assigned to that channel and uses it for zone 2. I emailed Yamaha customer support regarding when the DV firmware update would occur.
The response:'Greetings,I believe there will be an firmware update that supports Dolby vision for RX models 600 and up at the end of December. I do not have an exact date.' Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkAccording to the Yamaha website, ALL 2017 RX-V (from base 383 and up) models have Dolby Vision, HLG, and 4K Upscaling. No disrespect, but you got a response from a bot. According to the Yamaha website, ALL 2017 RX-V (from base 383 and up) models have Dolby Vision, HLG, and 4K Upscaling. The quote you got was probably from last year's 81 series models. No disrespect, but you got a response from a bot. With all due respect, you are incorrect.
If you read the 'product information' page thoroughly for any of the 83 series, under 'Full 4K Ultra HD Support' you will see this disclaimer:'.Dolby Vision and Hybrid Log-Gamma will be available via future firmware update.' Also, Scott included the 83 series as needing a firmware update for compatibility in his overview of DV.Unless you or someone else can confirm that your x83 is currently displaying DV, I will assume based on the Yamaha website and the support response I received that DV will be enabled in firmware around December 2017.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. My older receiver with just 7.1 I never had any issues like this and I've disabled my atmos ones to see if I could get just 7.1 and no love.C, L, R, FPL, FPR, SL, SR, SW always show up on the display but never SBL/SBR only in test tone.

How To Update The Software Of A Yamaha Rx-v383 Bike![]()
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkHey, on Amazon all of the 2017 Yamahas are listed as being DV ready on their spec sheet? (I'm in the market for a new receiver that supports HDR10 and DV) But you're saying that they're not ready out of the box and they need a firmware update?Best regards,Max.
